You may benefit from pelvic steaming if you experience
•  Cramping
•  Painful Periods
•  Missing Periods
•  Infertility

•  Clots
•  Cysts
•  Brown/Dark Blood
•  Long/Short Cycles
Contraindications: I should not steam if
•  I have 2 periods per month or have had 2 periods per month in the past 3 months*
•  I have spontaneous bleeding*
•  I feel a burning itch in the pelvis*
•  I am currently seeing fresh blood or fresh spotting (even pink)
•  I am currently bleeding
•  I am pregnant (less than 37 weeks)
•  I have recently had surgery and have not been cleared by my doctor to return to my normal activities

•  Post-insemination when trying to conceive
•  I bleed for less than 3 days* (credit to @fertilitywithadrianne's Cycle Healing School)


*Indicators that recommend a visit to your local acupuncturist to help bring balance to the contraindication before steaming.
Soft Contraindications: It is my own choice to steam if
•  My tubes are tied/tubal coagulation. Steaming can clear scar tissue and can cause this type of birth control to fail.
•  I use Nexplanon (implant in the arm) this type of birth control creates a thick lining of mucus that can be released by steaming which can cause this type of birth control to fail.
If you experience either of these and do choose to steam, please use an alternate method of birth control.
It is OK to steam if
•  I have an IUD (mild setup: 10 minutes)
•  I experience hot flashes (mild setup: 10 minutes)

•  I have an active infection (mild setup: 10 minutes)
•  I use the birth control pill
•  I have open sores (steaming can help the sore heal faster and keep it clean)
•  I have had a hysterectomy

•  I have fibroids (steaming has been reported to shrink fibroids)
•  I have cysts
•  I have HPV
•  I have bumps (steaming has been reported to reduce bumps and promote smooth skin)
•  I use a Nuva Ring (remove before steaming)
